CRADLE OF FEAR (2001)
Director: Alex Chandon. Hacktors: Dani Filth, Emily Bouffante, Eileen Daly, Stuart Laing. Rating:
Tag-line: 'Its not if they die, its how...' Death Toll: Fourteen during the film's main body, but in the finale, there's so many I lost count. Gore the merrier. Cutting Remarks: You may have heard of this one - possibly because you're a fan of Cradle of Filth, or because you know this film is pure gore. I bought it because of Emily Booth (known here as Bouffante) getting her kit off within 10 mintues. Good fun all round, then. The plot un-folds via four different 'stories'. There's the woman looking for her Dark Prince. Two women breaking into people's homes to make ends meet. A man with one leg who is so desperate to regain both limbs he will do anything. And finally a man who has a deadly obsession with snuff films. This are all tied together by The Man, played by Dani Filth. The film is jam packed with gore, almost suggesting that the film-makers tried to get the BBFC to make cuts. Why? So they could be the first ever video nasty of the 21st Century, thats why! Watch out for one poor sap having his leg chopped off. Looks damn real. That's another thing about this Brit flick: the effects are actually good - with the exception of a guy being ran over in the third story had me. That one had me laughing, it looked so fake! Each little plot leads to the grand daddy of showdowns. It's between a copper and a psycho who can control The Man's mind. When these three meet, bodies drop like flies all over the screen. The film ends and you are left wondering why it wasn't cut! A very good offering to the genre by us Brits. Roll on 'Cradle Of Fear 2'! Most Memorable Demise: Spoiler coming, so don't read if you don't wanna know: The Man having the top half of his head blown off! Look Out For: Nods to other horror films. They're hidden all over this movie. Killer Quote: "He'll be cumming all over my fucking tits later!" - Emily Booth/Bouffante as Melissa. DVD Details: The extras consists of two utterly crap, thrown-together-at-the-last-minute trailers... if they can be called that. Stills Gallery and a funny Behind The Scenes featurette. That's it. Release Date: March 2003. Reviewer: James Simpson. [Check it out at Amazon UK] [Reviews Menu] © Copyright Slasherama 2002-present |
