HOUSE OF WAX (2005)
Director: Jaume Collet-Serra. Hacktors: Paris Hilton, Chad Michael Murray, Eliza Cuthbert. Rating:
The lowdown: Who would have thought that, in this day and age, you could get away with turning an entire town into wax. This is exactly what two twisted Siamese twins have done. Enter a pack of good-lookin' kids, camping en route to a football game... Good points: It's pretty nasty. While this House Of Wax is generally a very familiar slasher retread, the sadistic element of entombing people alive in wax certainly gives it an edge. There's a fair bit of gore on display - some of it surprisingly, such as a nifty finger snip - and the acting is pretty good all 'round. Yes, even Paris Hilton's. The climactic sequence, involving the melting of (you guessed it) a wax house, is damn cool to boot. Bad points: It's too long. As far as I'm concerned, if a movie ventures over 90 minutes, it needa a damn good reason. Clocking in at 113, House Of Wax doesn't really have one - it takes too long to build up. When it does kick in, of course, it's worth it. Overall: Good and simple popcorn slash fun. Just a shame there's a little too much of it. DVD Extras: Unknown as yet. But we doubt Paris Hilton's sex video will be included. Release Date: In the States, October 25, 2005. In the UK, it's October 3. [Pre-order at Amazon UK] [Home] © Copyright Slasherama 2002-present |
